FINANCIAL AID / FIT STAFF MEETING
May 17, 2006
Presidents Conference Room – 2:00 p.m.
Present: Bruce Wierda, Carmella Martinez, Carolyn Kamerad, Kim Vanderlinde, Minney Edge, Peggy Jacobks, Rosemary Zink
Absent: Georganne Meyers
Financial Aid – FIT training
- Bruce passed out calendars for the rest of the year with information on both the Financial Aid office and FIT training. We are to plan our vacations accordingly and make sure all homework for fit is complete by or before the ready date or vacations will be denied.
- Eric Mayo will be the FA Office FIT trainer.
- FIT will go live campus wide in 6 month (December 06) Financial Aid office will be live in March 2007.
- Friday, May 26, 06 FA Office staff will have lunch on campus
- Put training manuals together before training starts on Tuesday, May 23. Binders and information can be found in MJM’s old office.
- Weekly meetings will be held while training for FIT. Target meeting times will be Thursday from 2p.m. – 4p.m., we will plan meeting schedule after the first week of training.
- Bruce and Carolyn will attend a MUG meeting in Troy, MI on June 8, 2006. This meeting is set up for everyone in the state of MI using Datatel to get together with their peers and discuss procedures, suggestions or questions they may have.
Temp Worker –
- Bruce discussed the option of bringing in a temp for 3 months to help alleviate the work load while we are in training. They should be fluent in Excel, Word, Mail Merge and Data Entry.
- Carolyn suggested Ann McManus the evening receptionist. Bruce wants to keep the work in our office due to confidentially and the new FERPA laws.
Change Management Committee –
- Aaron Hillard was a special guest from the committee. This Committee is set up to help anyone who is feeling overwhelmed with the change and needs a place to vent their concerns or frustrations.
- He explained our importance to the implementation of the new software and how overwhelming it may be
- Aaron stressed how much work this is going to be and how we will be creating the systems for users after us.
