SAM Minutes 4-21-06

Student Academic Management (SAM) Team
 
 Meets every Friday 10:30-11:30 a.m. through April 28; every Thursday 10:30-11:30 a.m. after May 1

1. Kudos:  
Jean reiterated kudos to all team members for doing a great job completing their assignments. It really facilitated the consulting sessions last week.
 
2. Approval of Minutes          April 14, 2006

3. Training Dates/Consulting Update: 
After serving pop and cookies, and recognizing our “really great” team, Jean announced that our consultant, Mike Brubaker, is no longer with Datatel. He will be replaced by Doug Vandenberg, another experienced Colleague trainer. Everyone voiced their disappointment in losing Mike and agreed that he had done an exemplary job.
 
With the change in Datatel personnel, comes revision of the training/consulting schedule. Doug can’t make the May 9-11 dates, but hopes to be available three days the week of May 15. The June schedule will also be revised, from June 27-28 on-site to June 29-30 – which will probably be a remote session. Jean will finalize these days and let all members know as soon as possible. Since many individuals have worked their schedules around the previous training schedule, Jean realizes all team members may not be able to attend at all of the new times. Thanks to everyone for working with this; please let her know of any conflicts.
 
4.Changing Meeting Days for Spring/Summer
From team member responses, Jean said either Wednesday or Thursday mornings would be a good time to meet. After some discussion, it was decided to meet Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. beginning May 1, through the Spring and Summer sessions.
 
5. Approval of Valcodes and Code Files (for recommendation to IOC):
 
The following Academic Level Codes were approved as follows:        CE Continuing Ed        UG Undergraduate
            Motion to approve: Cindy Panici            
            Support: Chris Nowak             
            Vote: Unanimous
 
Some Curriculum Management Codes were approved as noted on the attached spreadsheet.
 
Further review of the following codes is requested:
 
Ø      CERT CCDS Credentials and Diplomas
Ø      DISC Tuition Discounts: Research with Accounts Receivable (i.e. SAM waivers)
Ø      EXPN Expense Codes: Cindy and Kathy will talk to Beda and Rosemary
 
Due to time constraints, the rest of the Code Files, Valcodes, remaining Agenda Items* and prior meeting Action Items** noted below will be addressed at the next meeting.
